75TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION OF MRS. RITA MARLEY
Nana Rita, Ghana – On July 15th, 2021, The Diaspora African Forum (DAF), in collaboration with the Rita Marley
Foundation on Thursday 15th July, 2021 had a memorable 75th birthday celebration to honor the life and works
of Nana Rita Marley; wife of Bob Marley at the DAF embassy.
Nana Rita Marley, although being Cuban-born Jamaican, made Ghana her home and she currently holds Ghanaian
Citizenship. Nana repatriated to Ghana over a decade ago and has impacted several lives; especially in
Konkonuru, a town near Aburi where she resides.
The local Methodist Primary and JHS School has seen immense improvement that can be notably attributed to
Nana Rita. The Community of Konkonuru itself boasts of some good roads and potable water because of Nana
Rita.

Indeed, Nana is worth celebrating because she is an icon who has made tremendous contributions to Ghana
socially and economically.
H.E. Dr. Erieka Bennett, Founder and Head of Mission at the Diaspora African Forum organized this event which
hosted well-wishers spanning from DAF Board Members, friends and loved ones of Nana Rita in attendance.
They made toasts to Nana’s iconic life and to her good health.
The event is part of a bigger global celebration to mark her 75th birthday which falls on 25th July 2021.
