GHANA DIGITAL CENTRES LIMITED AND DIASPORA AFRICAN FORUM(DAF) SIGN MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING(MOU) TO EMPOWER GHANAIAN YOUTH

Ghana Digital Centres Limited (GDCL) has announced a partnership with the Diaspora African Forum, at an MoU signing ceremony held at the WEB Du Bois Centre in Accra on Wednesday, 12th July 2023.

The MOU was signed by Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, Chief Executive Officer, GDCL, and Her Excellency Dr. Erieka Bennett, Founder and Head of Mission, Diaspora African Forum in the company of management of GDCL as well as Directors of the Diaspora African Forum Youth Empowerment Training Centre (DAFYETC).

The objective of the MoU is to implement initiatives to offer Technical Skill Development and Capacity Building Programs to equip the youth with relevant skills in call center operation and assist certified trainees with job placements to contribute to the national economy.

As part of the MoU a fully functional multi-channel communication call center that utilizes enterprise level state of the art technology will be set up at the Accra Digital Centre (a subsidiary of the Ghana Digital Centres Limited)

In his remarks Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang stated that Ghana remains an attractive destination for BPO activity due to the country’s youthful population, english language proficiency and favourable time zone among others. He added that GDCL’s partnership with DAF will further unlock Ghana’s potential in the Information Technology (IT) and IT Enabled Services sector to create opportunities for digital jobs and skills development for Ghanaian youth.

Commenting on the partnership H.E Dr. Erieka Bennett said she is excited about this partnership and truly believes this is an opportunity for Ghana to become the Silicon Valley of Africa.

She added that, the Diaspora African Forum will do its best to foster the success of this partnership with their resources and contacts.

The partnership comes at a time GDCL is intensifying collaborations with key stakeholders to identify and create opportunities that accelerate growth of Ghana’s Information Technology (IT) and IT Enabled Services ecosystem for job creation and skills development in line with Sustainable Development Goals 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and 4 (Quality Education) respectively.
