THE OONI OF IFE HONORS H. E. DR. ERIEKA BENNETT WITH AN AWARD OF EXCELLENCE
Diaspora African Forum, Ghana – On February 27th, 2022, the Ooni of Ife, Ooni Babatunde Ojaja II honored H. E. Dr. Erieka Bennett, Founder and Head of Mission at the Diaspora African Forum (DAF) with an award for her excellent work in bridging the gap between the African Diaspora and Africa. This award was presented to the Ambassador at the Awards Dinner which was part of the celebration of Aje Festival in Ife, Nigeria.
Aje Festival 2022, was a 4-day eventful festival which was held in phases; from Friday, 25th February, 2022 – the Monday, 28th February 2022. It began with the Aje Heritage and Economic Summit which was held at the Ojaja Arena located inside the Ife Grand Resort at the Ile-Ife, where Aje Festival Exhibition was unveiled. The Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th were for Aje Music Fiesta, Aje Movie screening and Aje Awards nights. The Monday, 28th February, climaxed all activities with the iconic procession of the Aje groups led by Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II.
“I stand here today surprised and overwhelmed, and I say a big thank you. I cannot sit down without acknowledging how much you mean to me your Majesty, and how much the 250million Diasporas appreciate you for what you have done for us. You give us hope, you give us the opportunity to be a part of Africa, and on behalf of the Diasporans all over the world, I say thank you, we salute you Your Majesty, we commit ourselves to you, we commit ourselves to Ile Ife, we committee ourselves to Africa.” These were the words of H. E. Dr. Erieka Bennett as she received the award and thank the Ooni of Ife and entire leadership of Ile Ife for recognizing and honoring her contribution towards the development of Africa.
Indeed, the works of H. E. Dr. Erieka Bennett is worth celebrating because she is an icon who has made tremendous contributions to the Diaspora Community and Africa at large.
