The Vice President’s visit to Ghana was from Sunday,26th March to Wednesday,29th March,2023. She landed in Accra, Ghana on Sunday,26th March,2023. Upon arrival, she participated in an official welcome ceremony at the airport.

On Monday,27th March, the Vice President participated in a bilateral meeting with President Nana Akufo-Addo and  held a joint press conference. After, she visited the Freedom Skate Park and Vibrate Space – a co-working space and community recording studio – to meet with local artists and entertainers.

In the evening, the Vice President and Second Gentleman attended a State Banquet hosted by President Akufo-Addo and First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo.

H.E Kamala and the Second Gentleman Harris Douglas Craig Emhoff were beautifully welcomed to the Central Region of Ghana at the Emintsimandze Palace on Tuesday,28th March,2023.
It was a short ceremony which had some eminent traditional rulers, the Minister of the Central Region, some members of the African American group headed by Rabbi Kohain Lelevi and representatives from the Diaspora African Forum. She visited the historic Cape-Coast dungeon where she gave a speech on Pan-Africanism.

They departed to Tanzania on Wednesday,29th March,2023.

The Vice President’s trip to Ghana, Tanzania, and Zambia is a follow-up to the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit in December 2022, following up on President Biden’s commitment that we are “all in” with the continent of Africa.
As the Vice President said at the Summit, the Biden-Harris Administration is guided not by what we can do “for” Africa, but what we can do “with” Africa.
The United States views the African continent as critical to addressing global challenges, and the Vice President’s visit is another opportunity to engage with partners on shared objectives.
Through her bilateral meetings, the Vice President will discuss regional security; strengthening business ties; debt-relief and long-term economic growth; democracy and good governance; support for international rules and norms; the impacts of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine; and our concerns with China’s engagement on the continent.
