The Diaspora African Forum (DAF) celebrated Family Thanksgiving Day on November 24, 2022. This year’s celebration was held at the New Town Community, a suburb of Accra, where food items were donated to two hundred (200) families in the community.
Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday celebrated on the fourth Thursday of every November in the United States and on the second Monday of every October in Canada. Families normally celebrate Thanksgiving Day by coming together to have a meal, organizing parades, and giving/sharing food items with the less privileged.
DAF received tremendous support from the First Lady of Ghana, H.E Rebecca Akuffo-Addo, Hon. Kathleen Quartey Ayensu and Mrs. Helen Dwomfour both in cash and kind (food items) to make the celebration a success.
In an interview, the Founder and Head of Mission of DAF, H.E Ambassador Dr. Erieka Bennett stated that the aim of this donation is not only to have a Family Thanksgiving celebration in Ghana but to empower the community by touching lives and giving them a reason to smile.
DAF would like to thank all sponsors who made this year’s celebration a success and we look forward to getting more people to donate to this good course in the future.
