On March 8,2023, the statue of Civil Rights leader and broadcasting legend Xernona Clayton was unveiled in Atlanta. Xernona Clayton is the first African American woman to have a street in downtown Atlanta named after her as well as a statue. The statue is purposefully located across the street from the Hyatt, on 265 Peachtree Street, where Clayton and many other prominent members of the Civil Rights Movement held their strategy meetings. In attendance were Ambassador Andrew Young, Civil right Activist, H.E. Dr. Erieka Bennett, Founder & Head of Mission for Diaspora African Forum and many other notable personalities.
